SMART Recovery Addictive behaviour
What is SMART?
SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. It is a programme that provides training and tools for people who want to change their problematic behaviour, including addiction to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, food, shopping, Internet and others.
How does SMART work?
It teaches you how to control your addictive behaviour by focusing on underlying thoughts and feelings. SMART will help you learn skills to manage your cravings and urges for the long term.
In contrast to 12-step programs that will require you to admit powerlessness over your habit, SMART considers itself a self-empowering program. I will help you examine specific behaviours to find problems that need the most attention. Therefore, teaching you self-reliance to control your addictive behaviour. SMART uses techniques from cognitive behavioural and motivational enhancement therapies to teach these skills.
What does SMART look like?
I will teach you all about the 4-point program and provide you with tips and exercises to maintain a sober life.
