Substance Misuse
What is substance misuse?
If you have a problem with drug abuse or alcohol addiction then you will have experienced the many ways addiction can negatively impact your life. You may have experienced a worsening of the negative factors that go hand in hand when addicted to alcohol or drugs. Now might be the time to get specialist treatment to overcome your struggles with substance misuse.
The effects of substance misuse can manifest in many ways, damages to the mind and body only account for a fraction of the ways that addiction can rob you of your health and well-being. Drugs and alcohol change the way we feel. At first the use of these substances or behaviours could be a form of self-medication, an attempt to reduce an unbearable psychological or physical pain. When your substance of choice becomes your obsession, you will struggle to stop on your own and be unable to prioritise the things that were once important to you.
Addiction is one of the most complex areas of mental health and can often be difficult to treat. There is a good deal of controversy surrounding the causes of addiction and the best approaches to treatment.
How can I help?
Over the years, I have gained a wealth of experience with clients that have substance misuse problems. I work closely with residential addiction clinics in the UK and Ibiza. This means that I am able to coordinate and organise care with a treatment pathway to give you a robust treatment package.
One example of this would be: 6 one to one sessions followed by 6 weeks residential treatment in Ibiza followed by 12 one to one sessions on your return home to help you understand relapse prevention and maintenance of recovery. If you have medical insurance you may be able to claim your treatment through this.
If you feel you are not ready for residential clinic then do not worry, we can work together to find a method that works for you.
